For Fuel Retailers

More about

Smart Reporting

For fuel retailers, serving smaller business customers can be challenging. Many self-employed professionals and small businesses refuel for business purposes, but do not use a dedicated fuel card.
As a result, these customers often pay with a regular debit or credit card and rely on individual fuel receipts for their administration. That creates extra work for the customer and makes it harder for the fuel retailer to build a direct business relationship.

Worldline Smart Reporting, integrated into the Moveyou Platform, offers a simple way to bridge that gap.

Who is Smart Reporting for?

Smart Reporting is especially relevant for fuel retailers that want to serve self employed professionals and smaller businesses without immediately issuing a fuel card.

These customers can continue paying with their own debit or credit card, while Smart Reporting provides them with a clear business invoice. For the fuel retailer, this creates a low-threshold way to start building a business customer relationship without taking on the financial risk that can come with issuing a fuel card.

At the same time, Smart Reporting gives you more insight into how these customers use your network, including transaction frequency, locations and purchased volumes.

This makes Smart Reporting a valuable first step in the customer journey. You can connect smaller business customers to your brand, better understand their behaviour and, when the relationship develops, offer additional services such as a fuel card, charging solution or other mobility services.

In this way, Smart Reporting helps turn regular payment transactions into long-term business customer relationships.

One clear invoice

A business customer registers for Smart Reporting using a debit or credit card. From that point onwards, fuel transactions made with that card at the fuel retailer can be automatically recognised and collected.

Instead of keeping a receipt after every refuelling transaction, the customer receives a consolidated invoice at regular intervals. This invoice provides a clear overview of the transactions and shows that they have already been paid.

The customer can then process this invoice directly in their accounting system.

What information can Smart Reporting provide?

As a fuel retailer, you determine how the invoice is structured and how transactions are grouped. Transaction data can include date and time, location, product, pump number, quantity and amount.

The data can also be made available in other formats, such as CSV.

Transactions from the past

Transactions can already be linked to an anonymous token before a customer registers.

Once the customer signs up, this token can be linked to the account. This makes it possible to include earlier transactions, in some cases up to one year back.

What does Moveyou do?

Moveyou connects Worldline Smart Reporting to the Moveyou Platform.

Relevant transaction data is automatically retrieved from Worldline and processed within the platform. Smart Reporting can be integrated directly through APIs or used in combination with Worldline’s white-label portal for onboarding and customer management.

This makes Smart Reporting part of the wider customer, transaction and invoicing process.

More than administration

Smart Reporting also gives fuel retailers better insight into smaller business customers.

Once registered, their transactions can be linked to a customer profile. This gives insight into usage, locations and purchased volumes.

It creates a simple first step in the customer relationship, without immediately issuing a fuel card. When the customer grows, additional services such as a fuel card or charging solution can be offered.

Smart Reporting across markets

Smart Reporting can be used in different markets, but is currently best known and most widely used in Belgium.

One reason is that business customers in Belgium often have a stronger need for a clear invoice in the company name instead of individual fuel receipts.

The same principle can also be applied in other countries. Where the right acquiring infrastructure and integrations are available, fuel retailers can use Smart Reporting in the same way to serve smaller business customers and simplify their administration.
